NEW ECONOMIC GROWTH THROUGH ARTS
-ROLE OF CORPORATIONS, and ASEAN NETWORK-
As a part of 'Research and Conference in Facilitating Corporate Mecenat Activities and Establishing a Network in ASEAN Countries'
On 27 May 2016 in Tokyo, Association for Corporate Support of the Arts (Kigyo Mécénat Kyogikai [KMK], established in 1990) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) known as the Corporate Mécénat Japan- Malaysia Connection with My Performing Arts Agency Malaysia, witnessed by H.E Ambassador of Malaysia to Japan, YBhg. Dato’ Ahmad Izlan Idris and Chair of KMK (also Chairman of Dentsu Inc.), Mr. Tatsuyoshi Takashima.
The MOU marks a bilateral partnership to promote Corporate Mécénat (support of the arts and culture) in Malaysia and advocate it in the ASEAN region.
The MOU is signed as a part of the continuous series of implementing research, mutual exchanges and conferences in collaboration with Southeast Asian countries, which has been organized by the KMK since early 2015.
For many years in Japan, corporations have been promoting arts and culture, supporting the multifarious cultural projects in different regions, and contributing to the international exchange in the arts. Japanese corporations have developed their own philanthropic methodologies by making great use of their own business and management resources, and continued to strive for solutions to imminent social issues. These creative and unique activities, particular to the private sectors, are more flexible than cultural promotion policies lead by the national and local governmental bodies, and play important roles in promoting the diversity and innovativeness in the arts. As members of the global society, Japanese corporations carry the responsibility of providing their acquired knowledge, skills, and methods for cultural promotion, as well as propagating corporate philanthropy throughout the globe.
This time KMK is holding the third conference together with MyPAA in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 24 August 2016 at Le Meridein Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
